Message It will decrease the vibrations a lot, but not make them dissapear entirely. I'm not sure if the effect of driving it like that for any amount of time has damaged the 5th gear bearings on the shaft in the tranny somehow.

You can feel and hear the vibration in my Jeep in 5th unless you get it up to 65+ mph. Put it in 4th at anytime when it is making the noise in 5th and it goes away. When the U-joints are nearing the end of their life(have a lift kit and even with the xfer case drop to lessen the driveline angles it still eats "regular" U-joints every few thousand miles. I've moved up to the top-of-the-line lifetime gaurantee ones and they seem to last longer so far) the vibration definitely gets worse, and right after changing them it is lessened dramatically.

I thought it might be the output bearing on the tailshaft of the tranny, but you'd think it would do it in all gears?

Mike
